Kenny can run, he can run long but he doesn't feel like it. Last year this 11 year old did 7 miles and could have run more but I did not think it wise. But he is not a runner yet so it's been a while since we ran together, well, except from Mission a week ago. Today I asked him to accompany me for a four miler on Coyote Creek Trail, because I felt I would not go if he didn't come with me.
Today was perfect for running, sunny but not hot at all and slight breeze. We started slow and I liked that pace so I decided to keep it for the rest of the run. Kenny got a stitch on his side but braved it and ran the entire 4.25 miles. I kept talking to him all the way to keep his mind off his pain.
One of the many reasons I like running with him is that he helps me with pacing. I always end up going too fast and then I get tired and discouraged. A run like today is just a total pleasure.
