"Gratitude feels best, not when it gets breathed in, but when it is blown into the sails of others, that the vehicle of their journey has more power"
--- Friend

"Love and truth are the two primary manifestations of divinity in which we can partake, and by partaking in them we become truer manifestations of the divine."

Enough of laziness

Sitting on my butt all day long and doing nothing does not serve me well. I sleep poorly and my mood is awful. So today I am going to move, move, move.

8+8 pushups, 20 situps. It is a start and it is not even 3:30 yet. My cats are quite amazed by my early morning antics. Actually, so am I.

5am and I am swimming at the Y. My new lap counter gizmo is great. It helps me keep track of the number of laps and some other statistics. I am proud of myself even though I swam only 550yrds. II have a lot of phlegm in my lungs and that makes it a bit difficult for me to swim long. I need to cut down on milk, I think or I will have to put up with choking after a few laps, which really does not make me look very professional in the pool. I don't really look like a real athlete, I know. First of all I have too much body fat and then am still doing only breaststroke, so while all those hard-core guys (one swims actually in a really cool one piece tri-suit) are zooming by, I paddle slowly making sure I don't exert myself too much.  but I am learning freestyle. I want to be a real swimmer so after my 11 laps I spend some time doing exercises from the DVD I got. I did superman (OK, superwoman) and some rotations but those made me run out of breath too fast. I'll be a superwoman some other time then.

So today's swim data is as follows: 11laps (550yds), 14'46.75min, average 1'20.6, fastest 1'15.41, slowest 1'26.8

The graph on the side is to be a sober reminder how little I've been running lately.
Yesterday I was wondering if I could be brave and go out and run in the rain. 24 hours later I did. It rained like crazy when I left with my son who will go for silly things like that. No, he would not enjoy running in the sun as much so having this downpour and wild winds was something he actually thought would be fun. The trailhead is less than 10 minutes away from the house but by the time we got there the sun was shining and the wind died down. Thank goodness the trail was totally wet with huge puddles so we could show our toughness by running through the middle of them.
