Yes, I have decided that I love burnin' luv skis. I got them today because they are prettier than lotta luv and for the first time I felt like a skier and not because of cool colors. On those skis I could actually turn with ease even on steep slopes. I fell in burnin' love with those two planks of wood encased in some plastic. So that explains part of the title. Now as far as my son goes... well, he wants to expose me to beautiful places and breathtaking vistas and trails that are 'easy', mom, they are as easy as the ones you've been skiing over and over again. So I let myself be talked into exploring. We glide on what is at the most a cross country trail and then WHAM! A drop off, I mean abyss. And my loving son says that it was not like that a couple of hours ago when he checked it out. WHAT!?! So I skied maybe 10 yards and then I froze. I mean I did not know what to do. The slope was not groomed so the tips of my skis were dug deep in the snow. I was afraid to make a turn worrying that if I started going down I would not be able to stop. And then how does one turn with zero speed? So I don't know how I got myself to finally move but I did and very slowly kept on going down without actually any additional stops. I do not think I could have done this on any other skis I have tried up to this point. These babies turn without asking. So Kenny, my dear son, survived the afternoon and though I have not had a chance to tell him yet, I am actually glad he took me there. Actually without his encouragement I would be still doing The Village Run, the greenest trail there is. On the way to the condo we are renting here I bought him a nice thank you for motivating me lemon tart.
On another note, maybe I am not exercising much (except for my quads that is) but I am trying to work out in the room before we head up for the snow. I am proud to announce I can do 15 pushups now. This is the most pushups in a row I have ever been able to do. Maybe this is why it is so much easier for me to get up from the spill than it was last year. I manage to prop myself on the poles and it is not a problem at all, while a year ago... I better not describe the scene.
