"Gratitude feels best, not when it gets breathed in, but when it is blown into the sails of others, that the vehicle of their journey has more power"

Decision made (I must be nuts)

OK, it is official. I AM nuts.

Yesterday registered for CIM. Yes, I know, it is a road race but I have a bone to pick with this specific marathon. A couple of years ago I was going to run this race on my birthday. I thought then it would make a perfect birthday present. Well, guess what, no present, only a rush trip to Poland. So while this year it does not fall on my b-day, I think it still owes me a birthday gift and a darn good one. Don't you agree?
Originally I was thinking of focusing on trail running but when a friend suggested CIM, I jumped on the idea. OK, it took me a while (a whole half an hour :)  ) to decide.

My biggest concern is that I have only 12 weeks to train. I guess I will have to be smart about it and pray to my Achilles tendon, who likes to remind me ever so often that it is still there and is holding some kind of a grudge against me, that it behaves.
Any training suggestions? I can use all the help I can get.

So now this just might become a running blog again. I will be boring you with my running stats, fueling mishaps, and reports on aches and pains. I bet you just can't wait.

In the future I am very tempted to do Skyline to the Sea 50k (another friend's recommendation). I backpacked this trail in both directions a few times and I love it. They used to hold this race in September but then, I guess, the organizers decided that it was not challenging enough so they moved it to April, which can be still quite wet here making the trail in some places impassable. Fun!

And then is this sounds like a blast but the entry fee is... $400!!! If I start saving now, I might consider entering the lottery next September. Or maybe not. FOUR HUNDRED US DOLLARS! Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit high? I must be since there is enough interest in this race to actually hold a lottery. So if I put away $1.1 a day... tempting, isn't it?

Please, keep your fingers crossed that this time I do not have to rush off to Poland just before the marathon yet again. If I do, I will blame all of you who had suggested I try to break the curse.

But thank you so much for all your recommendations.

Let the training begin.
