Playing a tag game

Thank you Joy for tagging me. It actually motivates me to visit my blog and write something.

So the rules are:
1. Post these rules
2. Post 11 random things about yourself
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5. Go to their blog and tell them you have tagged them
6. No stuff in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you are reading this". You legitimately have to tag 11 peeps!

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that I am not a very good rule follower. Maybe it is a lack of discipline or maybe it is just the rebel in me. So guess what, I will be breaking some of the rules here also. Sorry, Joy. I will be skipping 4, 5, and 6.

So here are eleven things about myself.

  • I am a very early morning person. I can't remember the last time I slept past 4am. I like it that way.
  • I believe posted speed limits are stupid. Weather and road conditions are more important than a silly sign with numbers.
  • I love talking to strangers. Oh, wait, once we start talking they are not strangers anymore.
  • I think of myself as a loyal friend but you would have to ask my friends to confirm that.
  • Why classical music is what I enjoy the most, I love being exposed to other types of music
  • I am impulsive - 'nuff said

(are we done yet?)

  • I have very little faith in my abilities; thank goodness for friends who believe in me more than I do.
  • I am quite emotional - that would warrant a long post but I'll spare you
  • I have a heart of an explorer but in a very wide sense of that word: I love new places, new ideas, new art forms, new people - you get the idea.
  • I have zero patience for intolerance, racism, and prejudice
  • I LOVE staring at the night sky sometimes imagining there is someone out there looking in my direction and our eyes meet...  When I immerse myself in that multitude of worlds, I feel I am a part, even if only a very tiny one, of this magnificent universe

Now for Joy's questions:

1. If money wasn't an option, what would you really want to do for a living?

Loaded question. I don't think I would want to have all that money, I really mean it. I just know I would give it away and I don't think I would even have a chance to make 'doing something else for a living' choices. Now I would not mind having some money to make some changes in my life but that is a totally different story. :-)

2. What is the one thing that you are really afraid to do?

Go fast when I am not in control of the breaks. So I am not enjoying roller coasters. Not at all. But I would jump off the plane - go figure.

3. What brings you most joy?

That really depends on my mood, time of day, time in my life. It can be a piece of music, hug from a friend, or a sunset, smile from my teen, call or email from a someone I care about, knowing I could help someone, or just a quiet moment by the candlelight

4. What exercise is your favorite?

I don't know. Often I hate them all when I do them but love the feeling they left me with when I am done. But then there are times when exercise puts me in a meditative state and I love it then. It does not happen often but it did several times when I was running or lifting weights.

5. What is one thing that pushed you to start your weight loss and fitness plan?

Not being able to enjoy the outdoors as much as I wanted to. Hating how I looked and how I felt.
Oh, that's two things. Actually it is a combination of many, many things.

6. What keeps you motivated?

Fear and craving for adventure.

7. Who inspires you?

Long list of people.
There are individuals whose daily rituals of exercise and clean eating inspire me to care more about my body.
And then there are all these seniors who don't let their age stop them.
And how about people with disabilities who overcome their challenges and achieve things I, a person with a fully functional body, don't even dare to dream of.

8. Is there anything holding you back from achieving your dreams? If so, what?

Doubt. Lack of trust in myself.

9. Are you a hugger? When was the lsat time you got hugged?

AM I A HUGGER? Are you kidding me? I hug strangers for a living!
Last time I got hugged was yesterday. Today I have not seen anyone awake yet.

10. What would your perfect day look like?

Any day when there is a real connection with others is perfect.

11. Are you going to reach your goals? If so, what is your plan?

Goals... am I overanalyzing these questions too much (my vice, if you want to know). For a moment I thought of reaching goals and being done, and not having anything else to strive for, and that made me feel very uneasy because what I see as my goal in life is to keep on going and doing.
Now there are some challenges I would like to conquer and I think I will. My plan? As usual, I don't have a very specific plan. My recipe is to keep at it, try not to get discouraged, get any encouragement I can (for me, a very important ingredient for success) from my friends.

You are indeed a morning person as I discovered when you were on FB at about, what 3:30 a.m. the other day? ; )

I am amazed that you don't have faith in your abilities--you who have accomplished so much. You are STRONG!

You have so many neat characteristics and I'm so glad to get to read your posts and get a little peak into your interesting life!

You do have an interesting life and also I agree with the times I see you on FB. I am always surprised at how early people get up.
Keep being you. You are a very special person.

I typically wake up at 4am, but I'm so lethargic that I try to go back to sleep and end up lying there for hours sometimes before I finally get up. I wish I liked coffee :).

I think you're very adventurous and not as fearful as you think. It's not many people who would go attack the JMT for months by themselves or run races ill-trained (what's that??? I have no idea! ;)). You are one of the nicest, friendliest people I have met...and I've "known" you for a long time... like when your blog was the trail bunny (something like that). I think when you (we) have been through a lot of adversity in our lives, we tend to get a little afraid of the bad and just so grateful of how good things are. Things are good for you now...I couldn't be happier!!

Glad you love talking to strangers: I discovered it when you meet a men in the dark while you were in the wood last year.

I knew you are a loyal friend although our virtual relationship :)

I've understood what you mean about writing speed limits and stupidity. But we, runners, sometimes need it! Writing about our time taken and average pace (min./km) gives us motivation.

I always enjoy reading your posts, Ewa!
Have a nice week!

Hi Ewa! Regarding the reply ability on my blog. I really don't know how it got there. One day, the "reply" word was just there. It just happened this week.

I'm pretty sure that not following the directions is WAY more down to rebellion than motivation as I see you as a motivated rebel.

I could write so much but I think this says it all: I like you even more than I did before after reading this!! You are way cool & an amazing person. Loved learning more!

Great to learn more about you.

I'm a morning person too but 4 am is a bit too early for me. This morning I got up at 5 am but that's the limit.
I'm wondering though, if you are such a morning person and get up so early, what time do you go to bed at night?
Asking because since I get up early to get my daily workout in, I'm still trying to find out what's the best time to go to bed.

Except for roller coasters, I'm surprised at the similarities we share. I suppose that's why I like you. I too am an early person (not quite before 4am), am emotional (drives my boyfriend crazy) and likes talking to strangers but usually its someone who I think is a runner.

So fun getting to know you better! I so wish I was a morning person. I would love to wake up at 4:30 and be ready for the day. Just not there yet!

Keep up the great work my friend!! Stay focused!!!

I, too, feel an affinity for others and the universe when looking at the brilliant night sky. Enjoyed learning more about you!

What a great list of questions! Thanks for sharing. I am usually up by 4am myself no matter what time i got in bed. Now we have something in common. hahaha. Take care, and I loved the starring into the sky bit. Take care.

I loved getting to know you better! 4a.m. Holy crap. Crazy. I love your sense of adventure and have been channeling you quite a bit lately with my hiking. I know it's nothing like what you did, but I still think about you. :)

There is absolutely nothing more that I can add that the others have already mentioned..except one thing...

I'm so very glad that we "have met" and that your words of inspiration and caring are always a great comfort.

Keep being you!!!
